And of course we have the Germans to thank for Qingdao's reputation is the beer capital of China.
-
2
So this beer you may be familiar with if you've ever been to a Chinese restaurant, it's the most popular beer in China, and I think it's the fourth most consumed beer in the world.
-
3
So I guess when Germans came to China on that brief 16 years since they brought the recipe for beer with them, and the beer industry in Qingdao is still going strong.
-
4
It's here behind me name's "deng zhou jie" but it's more affectionately known as beer streets and now I'm about to enter the beer museum.
-
5
So I'm here now at the Qingdao beer Museum and factory, and I don't think you can come to Qingdao without coming here.
-
6
I think it's important to come here because in order to understand Qingdao of the city, you really have to understand Qingdao of the beer.
-
7
I also think it's really interesting that the packaging of the beer, reflects the history of the time.
-
8
So at first the packaging had a real German influence, because at that time Qingdao under German occupation.
-
9
And then up to 1916 the Japanese occupied Qingdao, so of course the label tip and Japanese vibe to them.
-
10
And then after 1945 when it came back to Chinese ownership you can see it's a more or more of a Chinese kind of packaging.
-
11
And if you don't end up visiting the museum's you have to at least try one of these, man I really like Qingdao.
-
12
I just saw a man drinking beer out of a bag is that a thing⁽¹⁾ here, so I can confirm drinking beer out of bags is a thing, I found its place with...
-
13
Yeah and he pulled the beer from the kegs into the little bag, and then you drink it, I've got to say there's a real novelty that comes to drinking your beer out of a plastic bag,
-
14
Definitely offence, emmm, definitely a bet for me. actually really good straight from the keg, so I get wind of Qingdao drink beer out of a plastic bag.
